Week 5 -- Summer days
The dry days of May and June seem far away. We've had about 6 inches of rain in the past two weeks. And it looks like there is lots more on the way this week. What a contrast.

Week 4 -- The second planting season begins
Early July and the second planting season is starting! While there is the big spring rush of planting (all of May!) and there are crops that we plant continuously throughout the season (lettuce, bok choi, chicories, beets, herbs), July is when plant and seed for autumn! Week 3 -- we had LOTS of rain!
It started last Friday and by Saturday evening we had received 3 1/2 inches of rain!
The relief was immense and my heart sang with gratitude!

Week 2 -- We had some rain!
Yes! On Friday night we were lucky and had a lovely little shower that gave us about a half inch of rain. The smell of the earth was magical! March Rains
After a dry March, the rain is pouring down today.
Almost all the snow has melted, even in our veggie field, which is usually the last to be snow-free. And that means the soil is very vulnerable to erosion at this point in the year, when few living plants are growing in the soil and holding the soi1 read more »
