Farm Happenings for August 29, 2023

Posted on August 25th, 2023 by Kimberly Decker

Well, I think we made it through the worst of the heat without melting, and the fall crops still look strong.  This weather has sent us to the pool every day, and has had me working wet, literally hosing myself down every hour, to keep from overheating.  But the ten-day forecast looks wonderful, and we're excited to move into more autumnal weather.

Washing totes is a never ending task on the farm.  Our reuseable totes are a key part of keeping our farm sustainable; there are folks who distribute their veggies in cardboard boxes, but we like the lifespan of our plastic totes (some of ours are over 16 years old!). But re-useable only works if we can get them back, so if you happen to have a few of our totes in the corner of your garage, or anywhere else, please send them back to us at your earliest convenience.

The hot weather encourages us to get out early and late, which means we have been seeing lots of sunrises and sunsets for the past few weeks.  Sunrise is my favorite part of the day; there is so much potential in a new day, and the early light is stunning.

Thanks for choosing us to be your farmers, and be sure to make your way out to the farm sometime soon; I realize those of you who have home deliveries don't visit very often, but the flowers on the farm are particularly beautiful this season, and should be strong through the end of September.

Thanks,

Curtis
