Farm Happenings for June 2, 2020

Posted on May 29th, 2020 by Kimberly Decker

Hi Friends! The sun has finally come out as I write this (on Friday)! We are so excited to see and feel it's warm rays!  The endless rains of May have made certain tasks on the farm tricky to carry out - but we are looking forward to the soil drying out and getting some new crops in the ground. One of the reasons we have so much space covered in plastic is to be able to control the amount of water our crops planted under them receive - this has been super handy this spring! We have been able to seed and harvest in the tunnels where we have not been able to in the fields. Here's a picture of our newest plastic house.

We are calling it the fig house - because the current plan in to plant fig trees in there (I had to pause a moment to reminisce about the deliciousness of fresh figs...)

On a housekeeping note - we will take back your egg cartons and the blue/green pulp boxes - you can bring them back to your pickup location or leave them your totes.

We are happy to grow food for you - please give us feedback as we move through the season!

Thanks!

Kimby and the Millsap Farm Crew

p.s. I want to credit Jamie for the cute radish photo - nothing like teething on a radish :)
