Flowers and Greens

Posted on June 26th, 2020 by Justina Soltys

Dear Spoon Full Farm Family,

It's almost July (!) which only means eggplant, zucchini, and pepper season is upon us! All of those crops have been loving the sun, and are starting to create fruit, so you'll be seeing all of those vegetables and more (like cucumbers!) in your boxes soon. For now, we hope you enjoy the plethora of greens in your box this week. Our edible flower field is in full bloom and is full of brightly colored calendula and nasturtiums. You'll be seeing those edible flowers in your salad mix this week - it will be sure to add color into your day (and your salad).

No new calf updates this week but we will be sure to include pictures of new calves once they are born! While there are no new calf updates, we just received a couple of Katahdin lambs this week (!) and are putting them onto new pasture tomorrow. They are full of curiosity and are still getting adjusted to their new home. We are so excited to share more updates on our new lamb herd in the weeks that come.

Also, please remember, you can choose to bring your own bag(s) and pack your share into your bag(s) at your pick-up location, and leave the boxes (This works very well).  If you decide to take your box when you pick up your new veggies, PLEASE bring your box and fabric back the following week. It seems not all boxes are coming back each week, which sadly means not all of you will not be receiving your CSA in a box but in a paper bag.

As always, happy eating.

Wishing you good health,

Your Spoon Full Farmers
