BONUS ASPARAGUS!!! Spring Farm Happenings for April 23, 2019

Posted on April 19th, 2019 by Kimberly Decker

BREAKING NEWS!!!  BONUS ASPARAGUS IN YOUR SHARE TODAY!

Our new asparagus patch is not quite ready for harvest this year; it needs to get established, and we can start harvesting next year, but we got a call from our organic farming friends the Millers this morning, and we were able to purchase a bundle of asparagus for every memberships, so enjoy the unexpected bonus!

Hello CSA members!

What a glorious Spring we are having! Snow, sunshine, wind, rain, thunderstorms! While I could have done without the snow, it was sure pretty and didn't do any major damage to the crops.  We are busy, busy this time of year.  Keeping the garden weeded, tomatoes growing (and trellising!), arugula planted, flowers harvested - we are trying to do it all!  We also had a hundred or so first graders from Buffalo come out for a farm tour on Wednesday.  They got to taste dill, nasturtium, fennel and celery, pet goats, learn about bees and play games.  Giving tours in one of Curtis' favorite things to do!

Remember to mark your calendars for May 7 as the last Winter CSA and dinner on the farm!  We hope to see all your smiling faces!  (We cook for you! and we will have all sorts of options to cover most food concerns!) (Can you tell I had coffee after lunch today? I'm using lots of exclamation points!)

If you have not signed up for summer CSA and you want to, please do so ASAP.  We are really close to selling out this year and we don't want you to miss out.

Also - if you are going to be a summer CSA member, are detail orientated, a morning person and would like free flower bouquets and your CSA volunteer work hours covered - contact me! I (Kimby) am looking for some flower harvest help from 6 to 8am Monday, Wednesday and/or Thursday mornings starting late May. E-mail:kimbybea@gmail.com or phone/text: 859-629-5375.

We love being your farmers!
