Farm news for May 16-17, 2023

Posted on May 12th, 2023 by Curtis Millsap

Looks like spring showers have finally arrived!  The plants are loving it; we can irrigate a lot, but there is no substitute for real rain.  The greens are abundant and luxurious, and alongside them we have a great crop of broccoli, and we are starting to have the first cucumbers, along with the first asparagus of the season.  It's looking great across the board.  Meanwhile, last week's warm temperatures allowed us to get the outdoor peppers, eggplant, cucumbers, and squash out in the field, and this rain is helping them get well established and off to a great start.

On another note, it is meat week this week!  If you are a home delivery, you should consider setting out appropriate coolers if you are getting meat delivered!  Also, we would love to recycle your padded envelops you receive from Amazon or where-ever to package frozen meat.  And finally, egg cartons and the pulp green/blue quart and pint containers can be returned to the farm and we will reuse them!

I hope your CSA has been trouble free so far, but if not, please feel free to reach out and let me know how we can make it better.

Thanks,

Farmer Curtis
