CSA week of May 8, 2023

Posted on May 5th, 2023 by Curtis Millsap

Welcome to week two of the CSA season; for some of you this is your first week, but Tuesday and Wednesday May 9&10 will be our second set of CSA harvests in 2023.  Several housekeeping notes;

One big reminder is that we have integrated the Bread and Fruit and Egg, along with some Beef, Pork, and Chicken, into the regular share.  That means that if you want to have bread and fruit in your share every week, you need to set your preferences accordingly.  Or, if you don't want these items, you need to do the opposite, and rank them low.  Similarly, there will be ferments like sauerkraut, kimchi, pickles, and curtido included in the shares, and sometimes there will be beef or other proteins.  The take-away is that you absolutely need to set your preferences if you want to continue to receive a share tailored to you.  Here's a short video from last year explaining the process;  https://www.loom.com/share/e47c0400c75b4fb092082560e88d3dec

Go here to login and check your preferences: https://www.harvie.farm/login

If you have trouble with this process, let me know, and I'll help you get things pointed the right direction.

Also, remember that you have a two day window Saturday and Sunday to edit your share.  You can swap things out of your share, add additional food, change the pickup location, or even cancel the share for the week. As long as you stay within the value of your share, there is no charge for any changes.  If you add more items, they will be charged to your card on file.

Here's the link to sign up to help on the farm.  Remember the workshare requirement is to help on the farm for 12 hours per season.  That's 12 person-hours, so if you bring a friend, 6 hours fulfills the commitment, and so on.  Get signed up here;  https://signup.com/go/bxqceOu    If you are concerned about the work requirement, please feel free to reach out to me by phone or text to visit about it. Also remember that there is a $100 workshare buyout option, which allows us to pay a farmhand to work in your stead.

As always, it's our goal to have very high quality produce, and satisfied members.  If at any time we fail on this count, please let me know ASAP so we can make it right, and so we can prevent it in the future.

Finally, we have some beautiful plants for sale at the farmstand right now, including some hanging baskets, vegetable starts, succulents, and bedding plants.  Feel free to come see us anytime between daybreak and sunset, we are open for self service anytime, and we are also around much of the time, if you have questions or are looking for something in particular.

Here's our youngest crew member, enjoying the ambiance in the pack shed on a busy harvest day.  We really mean it when we say people of all ages can contribute on our farm!!!

Thank You,

Farmer Curtis
