Farm Happenings for June 21, 2022

Posted on June 17th, 2022 by Kimberly Decker

We are sweating it out here on the farm, but the crops are still abundant.  You will notice a lack of lettuce this week; it's a bit too hot for tender greens like that to thrive, but we have some great arugula and salad mix, thanks to the amazing Jason Hirtz at Box Turtle Farm.  Cherry tomatoes, blueberries, cucumbers, herbs, and many other delicious treats are still coming on strong, and we're offering some Millsap Farm raised Bratwurst this week in honor of father's day.

This time of year, we move to a siesta schedule, starting at 6a.m., which makes the first three hours of the day quite pleasant, temperature-wise, and then we breakfast, and slog on until lunch, when we're done for the day (or at least mostly, there are always other things that need to be done) Afternoon is mostly devoted to naps, rehydration, office work, creek time, and other summer pastimes.

I hope that whatever the heat finds you doing, you get to soak in a creek or pool, and sit in the shade a bit this weekend.

Thanks,

Farmer Curtis
