The first of the cherry tomatoes were planted in the ground last week. The first planting of the tomato is a marker that spring is here. Even when it's grey, cloudy and cold (snow?), spring is here. Because we've got tomatoes in the ground! So don't put those coats away quite yet, (the tomatoes have their blankets on too!) but celebrate with us the thawing of winter and the excitement of spring! We are seeing more and more produce as the days get longer and the nights (somewhat!) warmer. We have LOTS and LOTS of spinach, along with mini romaine head lettuce, celery, chicken eggs and duck eggs, Terrell Creek goat cheese, radishes, salad turnips, fennel - all sorts of things!

About the farm
Millsap Farms is a first generation family farm, located just 4 miles north of Springfield Missouri. Curtis and Sarah Millsap, along with their 10 children, farm manager Kimby, and a few interns, apprentices, and volunteers, grow 2 acres of vegetables year-round on their 20 acre farm. They grow a wide variety of vegetables, using organic techniques, never using synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers, and focussing on the health of the soil. The Millsaps have been farming full-time for 14 years, and have a serious long-term commitment to their community to provide high quality produce and a welcoming farm.
