Farm Happenings for January 14, 2022

Posted on January 11th, 2022 by Kimberly Decker

We planted the first tomato seeds on Monday!!!  It's always an act of faith; acting on the things we have come to believe through experience, study, and conviction.  Even in the dark and cold of winter, we can plant tomatoes as a declaration, in hope and faith, with confidence, that the summer is coming... Of course, we're protecting them, and taking great care to keep them warm and snug for the next two months, when we'll plant them out into the high tunnels, where we'll fertilize, water, prune, trellis, pollinate, and ventilate, until they finally start to bear fruit in May...  What a journey for all of us.

Meanwhile, while there are no tomatoes in the store this week, we have some really delicious spinach, carrots, radishes, kale, along with pasture raised chicken, local honey, sauerkraut, and lots of other delicious local food.

I hope you'll take the opportunity this winter to act in faith and plant some seeds of hope for the spring.

Thanks,

Curtis
