Farm Happenings for November 6, 2020

Posted on November 2nd, 2020 by Kimberly Decker

Hi CSA Members!

We are enjoying a bit of gorgeous fall weather this week! Cabbages, Kales, Broccoli and other cool loving crops are still growing - although they have slowed down with less light and cold nights.  We have experienced higher deer pressure this year so we are doing our best to keep crops covered with floating row cover.  This keeps the rabbits and deer from eating the tasty green things underneath and also protects the growing plants from the wind and cold.  We have a love/hate relationship with row cover.  It is nice to have an extra blanket for the crops when it gets cold, but when the sun pops out and the temperatures rise, they can get too hot.  Also it's hard to see what's going on under that cover! Putting on row covers and removing them over and over is part of growing during the fall and winter months.

There are some every other week shares that have the fruit/bread/cheese alternating on the wrong week.  I have fixed all of them from this week for the future, but I can't change this weeks because technically you should have gotten those extras with your veggie share last week.  Sorry about this - they should be correct for the up coming deliveries.

For those of you who are picking up for the first time this fall (every other week shares), here's some reminders:

1) On Farm pick up in Friday from 4 to 6; please let us know if you're not going to make it and we will pack your box and leave it in the cooler for you to pick up over the weekend.

2) Home delivery happens on Saturday between 8am and 2pm.  Please leave out your gray tote so we can collect them!

3) Rountree pick up is Friday between 4 and 6

4) Farmers Market pickup is on Saturdays between 8am and 1pm

5) Thanksgiving week: Everything happen on Wednesday! (Nov 25th)

6) All shares not picked up will be returned to the farm and put into cooler 1.  You will have until the Monday after that weekend to get your share from the cooler before we donate it to Ozark Food Harvest.  (We don't have cooler space to hold it all week)

Thanks!
