August Happenings.

Dear Spoon Full Farm,

We are expecting another spike in temperatures in the next couple of days - 98 degrees tomorrow, 102 degrees on Sunday, 100 degrees on Monday. Triple-digit days call for 6 AM harvest to beat the heat, lots of water and sunscreen, and sun hats (and a run through the sprinklers to keep cool). Maybe some ice-pops?

When the temperatures are in the triple-digits, the thought of turning on the oven or even cooking sounds unendurable. When temperatures get that high, we tend to eat lots of what we call "farmer salads." What's a Farmer Salad? It's a simple recipe, really. For us, it's been every vegetable you've been receiving in your shares these past couple of weeks like cucumbers, tomatoes, Jimmy Nardello peppers, and more, on top of a bed of tender lettuce greens and a light vinaigrette (with a side of bread).

Wishing you good health,

Your Spoon Full Farmers
