Our Winter/Spring CSA season continues with Week 10 this week. This year we combined our Winter season and Spring season to divide the year into two seasons rather than three. Winter/Spring runs every other week from December through May. Summer/Fall season runs weekly June through November. With the warm weather early in the season, I was hoping that we would have a little spring produce by this week, but since it has been overall cold and cloudy for the last couple of weeks, none of it is ready yet. Your farmers are busy planting, both in the ground and in flats for seedlings.
At Glacial Till Farm Derek is planting carrot seeds next to the hakurei turnips that are already growing in the greenhouse. And below is a pic of his gourmet salad mix getting a great start for the season.
The garlic at Spur Hollow Farm is doing well. It will be ready to pull sometime in July.
