Winter CSA Week 7 March 2

Posted on February 24th, 2022 by Amy Philson

Welcome to new CSA members.  We have had several people join for the remainder of the Winter/Spring season.  The month of March is the point when our veggie inventory is at its lowest, so you will see many other products in your share.  This email shows you what is planned for your share based on your preferences, but remember that you can add and remove any of the products available to make your share exactly how you want it (minus all the veggies that will be coming later this spring).  If you're not sure how to customize your share, here's a great tutorial.

New this week

  • Hazy Hollow Farm just got a pig back from the processor, so we have new pork inventory (including bacon and breakfast links!)
  • Hazy Hollow also has a large ham left from their last pig that they want to clear out of their freezer.  It is half price...less than $3.00/lb.  One person can grab this deal for your Easter dinner.
  • Humble Bee and Tree Farm has new floral soap scents for spring, and they also have bottled their fall honey.
  • Baked goods from Dinner Bell Farm include Everything Bagel Bread, English Muffin Bread, Pepperoni Rolls, and Chocolate Chip Cookies.
  • Maple Syrup is back in stock from Bushel and a Peck Farm

Farm News

Your farmers have been planting seeds in flats to get the growing season started!  Here's Derek from Glacial Till Farm using his new honeycomb seed starters.  Check out the video of his new system here.

Glacial Till Farm seed planting

Spur Hollow Farm  We finished up the greenhouse last week with the beautiful weather we were blessed with! This seed propagation greenhouse began as a carport frame that was given to us last year. We built it with fully functional roll-up sides for ventilation, and are adding doors to the back side of the greenhouse in order to allow more airflow in hot and muggy weather.  Also we started all of our onion seeds yesterday as well! We are planting roughly 8000 onions this year, and are excited to do so!

Humble Bee and Tree Farm bottled some of their fall honey recently.  Look how dark it is!  Dark honey = deeper flavor.

Remember, you can make adjustments to your share as many times as you want until 11 PM Sunday.

We're looking forward to spring weather!
