Mother's Day Musings

Posted on May 13th, 2019 by Pam Dysinger

Sunday was Mother’s Day and it was the same as every one of the last 20 Mother’s Day’s for me.  I  picked strawberries, but this time I was alone.  There was lots of time to think about the years when my children were working by my side.  Running in and out of the field, picking for awhile and then disappearing. As they grew older I found that working together was a perfect time to talk and listen as they shared thoughts, hopes and dreams.  They are good memories and I feel so blessed to have raised my children on the farm where every day was full of work to do, problems to solve and fun to be had.

To my great delight later in the day I had the sweet privilege of having the whole family (except our son Zack who is in MI) join me in the patch.  It was just like the good old days when we would be out in the field picking strawberries as a family.  There was lots of laughter, reminiscing, picking and then we ended with our favorite — strawberry shortcake!!  Family — what an amazing gift from God!

P.S. Don Johnson has gone on death watch...John is with him now...we continue to pray for our governor and hope he will extend mercy...but if not John will be with him on Wednesday and Thursday as well.  Our children had a wonderful visit with Don on Sunday and we have peace that God is in control no matter what decision is made.  Thank you for your love and support.
