Mother's Day Musings

Posted on May 12th, 2019 by Pam Dysinger

Today was Mother’s Day — and I totally forgot about the email!  My apologies!

It was the same as every one of the last 20 Mother’s Day’s for me and I found myself picking strawberries, but this time I was alone.  There was lots of time to think about the years when my children were working by my side.  Running in and out of the field, picking for awhile and then disappearing. As they grew older I found that working together was a perfect time to talk and listen as they shared thoughts, hopes and dreams.  They are good memories and I feel so blessed to have raised my children on the farm where every day was full of work to do, problems to solve and fun to be had.

Later in the day I had the sweet privilege of having the whole family (except our son Zack who is in MI) join me in the patch.  There was lots of laughter, reminiscing, picking berries and then we ended with our favorite — strawberry shortcake!!  Family — an amazing gift from God!
