April Lambs

Posted on April 6th, 2021 by Kristine Hammel

April is being accompanied by another Covid wave here in Ontario. Challenging times for most people.

So here is some good spring news from the farm. Many of the ewes are gigantic and look quite uncomfortable -- I remember that feeling from when I was expecting. And late last week, the first lambs were born! The ewe is an experienced mother -- this is her 3rd time lambing. And she did great. Two big lambs; 1 black ram lamb and 1 white ewe lamb. The ewe took great care of them both, carefully licking them dry. They are thriving, with plentiful milk from their mother.

You can check out a couple of videos of the three on our instagram feed -- you don't need an account to check out the pictures and videos!

If you are feeling discouraged, try going outside for a walk where there are trees and plants, if at all possible. I find a walk the most reliable way to refresh my perspective, be inspired and find solace.
