Persephone CSA Starting June 19th!

Posted on June 13th, 2020 by Kristine Hammel

Hello!

Welcome to the 2020 CSA season! This is our 11th year offering a community supported agriculture program. We are excited to be starting deliveries this coming Friday, June 19th. Thank you so much for joining us on this adventure in local food!

Covid-19 and delivery procedures

We have reviewed our procedures this spring and updated processes in response to Covid-19. Some of the changes include wearing masks during harvesting, washing and packing of produce, increasing the sanitation of containers, and reminding everyone to give each other space when picking up shares. Shares are packed into closed bins and labelled with members' names. Please only touch your own bin as you transfer its contents to your bag or basket. Leave our bins at the delivery location, so that we can pick them up, wash and sanitize them and refill them!

Housekeeping Notes:

If you haven’t logged into your profile yet, please do so here . (Hint: Your username is the email address you used to sign up and you would’ve set the password on the day you signed up).

In your profile, you can:

  • Update your contact information
  • Check your delivery dates and reschedule them as needed
  • View your upcoming box contents
  • Set your preferences so that you get the veggies you love and not the ones you don't.

For every delivery, you’ll be receiving two very important emails titled “It’s Time to Customize Your Share” and “Your Farm Share Is On Its Way!” You'll have from Tuesday afternoon to Thursday at 6 am to make swaps. If your box looks good, then you don’t have to do anything.

If you are on the payment plan, don’t forget you’ll be charged the second 25% installment + the first week share cost with the first delivery. All payment information can be found in your profile. Need help? Visit the Harvie University. You can also reach out to the support team at support@harvie.farm. The friendly staff at Harvie willl respond to your request. They are currently doing their best to deal with a huge increase in demand, so please be patient while they will get back to you.

June update and contents preview

It has been a wild yo-yo ride with the weather this spring! From hot to cold and back again. Nevertheless, the crops are doing well, thanks to plentiful rain this past week. In the coming weeks, your shares may include: lettuce, bok choi, mustard, mizuna, tatsoi, radish, turnip, kohlrabi, kale, broccoli, dill, and cilantro . Cabbages, summer squash, sugar snap and snow peas, beans and beets shouldn't be too far behind.

Farm visits

We hope to be able to invite you to the farm this summer. I think a big farm open house won't work well in the current context, but I'm pondering alternatives and watching the guidelines. I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, I sporadically post pictures on Instagram (@persephonedays). Let me know what you'd like to see and what questions you have!

We look forward to growing food for you and your family this season. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
