Farm Stand July 8, Monroe/Marion/Farmerville

Posted on July 1st, 2021 by Conrad Cable

Good afternoon Farm Stand members!

We will offer weekly farm stand orders now that the Spring and Summer CSA is coming to an end. There is a $15 minimum order, with options for delivery and pick up in Monroe at the urban farm, Dean of Flowers in Farmerville, and right here at the farm in Marion. Right now, Thursdays will be our farm stand day.

There are some exciting extras from local farms like eggs and honey, plus seasonal fruit like watermelons and cantaloupe. Fig season for us is right around the corner! We intend on having salad mix, celery, potatoes, and some big red tomatoes for the next few weeks. There will also be some fun flavors of our small batch jam.

For us, Summer is a transition to the Fall season. Now is when we cover crop, tarp our beds for 6 weeks, and amend the soil. We are busy planting transplants like cucumbers, cabbage, broccoli, kale, chard, lettuce, and bok choy. We are also planting microgreens and pea shoots every week for the salad mix.

This week, we received an ice machine! We use about 300 lbs of ice per week, so I am excited to no longer buy ice. We couldn't have purchased that tool without the support from all of you! Thank you! Follow us in Instagram and Facebook to find out more about how we are growing these great veggies.

Best,
