Final Spring Summer CSA

Posted on June 30th, 2021 by Conrad Cable

CSA members,

It's been some of the best times growing food for you and your families this season. We had a few setbacks. There were some goals we didn't achieve (like beans and peas) for the shares, and it looks like the big slicing tomatoes will ripen two weeks after the CSA ends, but overall Kaden and I are both proud of this season. You should be proud too, so please give yourself a big pat on the back for eating so many greens! To celebrate the end of this season, we have decide to run this week's shares like they will be run starting in the Fall. Instead of paying for any add-ons, all of our amazing add-ons will be available for swapping for any vegetables from our farm in your share. As long as the items swapped equal the set value of the share. For instance, if you don't want a carrot, or a potato, or an herb, swap them out for eggs, or a jam. All of the grits, corn meal, rice flour, sausage and beef is up for grabs too. Please reach out if you have any questions about this feature! I also added a lot of new inventory to Harvie, so update your preferences to make the most of the customization feature in the future.

This week's share will also not have as much variety as normal. There will not be any kale, chives, chard, arugula, braising mix, or dill. I am going to be out of town on a family vacation with my fiancé's folks, and I just can't leave a big harvest on Kaden, especially with the ever decreasing window of harvest times in the morning. We will still have the best salad mix ever! The leaves are larger on this lettuce, but the combination of the lettuce, arugula, radish microgreens, pea shoots, and baby kale is one that we will try to replicate for every salad mix from here on out. I am in love with all the flavors and textures.

If you still want to continue receiving produce from us until September 21, when the Fall shares will begin, then please make sure you subscribe to the Farm Stand on the Current Farms Harvie profile. Picks ups will most likely be in Monroe and Farmerville on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, plus we will have a mid week delivery day. There is a pop up farm stand that I created this week, so y'all can check out how it operates. We also set up every single Saturday at the Ruston Farmers Market, and we purchased a season for the Monroe Farmers Market on Washington St. The Monroe Market is not a guarantee every Saturday depending on our schedules. Keep up with our Facebook and Instagram posts to confirm!

We have a dedication to being primarily a CSA farm, so we are growing our CSA next season. If you liked your farm share, let your friends and family know about it! Access our referral feature through your Harvie profile to email the link. When the person you refer spends $250 with our farm, the referrer and the referee both get $25 back, which is basically a free share-holla!

Kaden and I are both looking forward to a week off each. We hope y'all find some time for rest and relaxation too. From both us, we wish you all the best, and we sincerely and humbly thank you for choosing our CSA, trusting us to grow your food, and helping us live our dreams of working together to grow tasty vegetables.

Best,
