Frozen strawberries

Posted on May 9th, 2021 by Pam Dysinger

What does a farmer do when they have an abundance of produce that isn’t sold at a market, or berries that are rain damaged? Those rain damaged berries make great jam which you will soon be seeing for sale. Since we feed a large crew every day we are able to use much or our excess produce and berries. But, what about those flats of beautiful berries? We are very blessed to have a customer who gets about 25 flats of strawberries from us each year.  Since we can’t give them have that many berries at once, we freeze most of them.  They like their berries unwashed, with the tops on, and we just put them into freezer bags.  On Thursday I was driving home from a rain-shortened market with many strawberries and the thought hit me that there are other customers who would probably jump on an arrangement like that (We only change $2 extra dollars for this service). If you would like a flat (Which is two very full gallon bags) or more of frozen berries, (tops and all : ), we would be happy to throw some into our freezer for YOU!  Please text your frozen orders to 931.626.3201
