Farm Happenings for June 20, 2019

Posted on June 18th, 2019 by Pam Dysinger

Dear CSA family,

On Sunday we reflected on the blessing that our Fathers have been in our lives.  Whether your birth father fills your heart with warm feelings or not, I hope you will reflect on those "Fathers" that have positively impacted your lives - Some you may not even know.  Today I want to introduce you to John's father (Bill Dysinger).  He was born just a few miles from our farm in Bon Aqua, TN.  After high school he spent a year working on his family’s farm before going on to college and medical school.  After marrying mom they travelled the world serving and working to promote public health.  They were home-based near Loma Linda, CA where Dad was involved in starting the School of Public Health.  Dad really was a globe trotter, but when he finally decided to retire (1991), he wanted to come back to his roots in TN.  He and mom bought 190 acres in Hickman County.  Honestly, we all thought they were crazy (we were in Kenya, another brother in Yemen, another in Guam, and his sister in Maryland). Mom and Dad moved to the farm in January 1994.  Amazingly, we moved here in April 1995, (NOT to farm…!) but by the fall of 1998, Bountiful Blessings farm was germinated (Our book, Our Ebenezer, has the full story). Today we honor Dad for his life of self-sacrificing service, and we thank him for allowing us to use a corner of the farm to continue his emphasis on public health — in just a little different way. So, you all have been impacted by our generous father — who you probably haven’t even met.

Thanks Dad, for blessing all of our lives in so many ways!
