Summer Share: Week 18

Posted on October 1st, 2021 by Lauren and Craig Kreutzer

This Week's Highlights: Our second hoophouse arrived this week, and we'll be working on putting up this structure in the coming weeks. Our current hoophouse is almost full for the fall and winter. The crops are enjoying these warm, sunny fall days!

What We're Cooking: We have been enjoying the beautiful brassicas. The kohlrabi - we peel and slice and eat just like an apple. The napa cabbage is delicious and versatile. It works well raw in slaws and salads but also stands up well to cooking. (Check out this list for inspiration. The recipes for a napa wedge salad and minestrone are on our to-cook list.)

From Our Farm Partners: We are excited to have blue potatoes from Driftless Organics.  Driftless grows amazing organic potatoes, and we will have yellow, red, and blue potatoes available throughout the rest of the CSA season.

Apple share members will be receiving certified organic Florina apples. Florina is sweet with a rich apple aroma.

Veggie Forecast: The greens are here to stay! Some amount of head lettuce, salad mix, and spinach will be in the rest of the shares. Rutabaga, celeriac, and brussels sprouts all look beautiful and will be making an appearance soon. This will be the last week of sweet peppers.
