Fall Share: Week 2

Posted on November 5th, 2021 by Lauren and Craig Kreutzer

This Week's Highlights: The skeleton of our second hoophouse is up. We'll be working on finishing up the end walls next. We harvested our cabbage last week, with leeks, brussels sprouts, herbs, and greens still in the field. We'll be harvesting the first greens from the hoophouse for this week's shares - mustard greens and spinach.

What We're Cooking: You know we're cooking soup! Caldo Verde (with or without the pork sausage) and cabbage soup are on our menu.

From Our Farm Partners: Cranberries are here! We are excited to be offering organic cranberries from SunDance Cranberries in Necedah. They are available is pints and 3-pound bulk bags.

Red, yellow, and blue potatoes are available from Driftless Organics.

The certified organic apples from Two Onion Farm for this week are a mix of Winecrisp and Galarina. If you want to tell the difference between the two, the Galarina has smoother skin. Galarina is an offspring of Gala apples.  They are sweet, crisp, and mild. The Winecrisp is juicy, crisp, and sweet, but not too sweet, with outstanding taste.

Veggie Forecast: The next fall share delivery will be Tuesday, November 23rd. We'll have pie pumpkins, brussels sprouts, leeks, onions, potatoes, garlic, carrots, spinach, salad mix, herbs, cranberries, apples, a limited quantity of sweet potatoes, and more!
