Summer Share: Week 11

Posted on August 13th, 2021 by Lauren and Craig Kreutzer

This Week's Highlights: This is the last week of sweet corn. We are offering some seconds quality ears, which are smaller or unevenly developed. (Perfect for cutting off the cob and preserving for winter.) We harvested (almost) all of the onions this past week, and the last of the fresh white onions are available in this share. The mini love watermelons have a sweet, dense, red flesh. They are "personal-sized" coming in at about 5 lbs each.

What We're Cooking: We are devouring watermelons and savoring the beans. Yellow wax beans are my favorite. (Gabriella is holding out for the dragon tongue beans.) Delicate and tender, I love them steamed, sautéed, or roasted.

Veggie Forecast: This will be the last week of tomato "samplers". Starting next week, you will be able to order slicers, sauce, heirlooms, and/or cocktail tomatoes on their own. Peppers are just starting to roll in. Cantaloupe and spaghetti squash will be making their first appearances soon!

Have a beautiful week.

Craig, Lauren, and the Meadowlark family and crew
