Summer Share: Week 10

Posted on August 7th, 2021 by Lauren and Craig Kreutzer

What a week! Some farm highlights: We harvested over 500 watermelons (with the help of our worker shares and some visiting nieces and nephews). The cherry tomatoes are picking up. We caught up on field planting. And the raccoon that had been enjoying our sweet corn seems to have moved on.

We've been enjoying the green beans. Raw with homemade ranch, roasted in the oven with sweet onions, and sautéed with carrots. This week's watermelon is our yellow variety, New Orchid. Mild and sweet, these melons are ripe and ready. There are plenty of them, too! If you haven't made coleslaw yet, this is the week for cabbage. Need other cabbage inspiration? Check out this article from Bon Appetit.
