Summer Share: Week 18

Posted on September 26th, 2020 by Lauren and Craig Kreutzer

We've reached week 18 of our 20 week summer CSA season. We are admiring the fall crops - storage cabbage, brussels sprouts, leeks - some of our favorite produce is still ahead. We completed the sweet potato and storage carrot harvests this week. We have over 600 lbs of carrots washed and stored in our cooler for the fall and winter.

This continues to be a beautiful brassica season. The broccoli, cauliflower, radishes, cabbage, and salad turnips are all available this week and are all in the brassica family. The cool temperatures result in mild, tender veggies with a hint of sweetness. We've been enjoying the broccoli and cauliflower roasted - sometimes with garlic and parmesan. The sweetheart cabbage makes a lovely coleslaw, but I love it braised with broth, butter, garlic, and a splash of apple cider vinegar or red wine vinegar.

If you didn't hear the news - we are offering a chocolate share from Roots Chocolates in our last summer share! We offered them in our last spring share, and we're excited to be sharing these amazing chocolates with our members again. Roots' signature 8-pack of chocolatier's choice truffles is available to order as a one-time add-on for the final delivery of the summer season. Lisa's small-batch, bean to bar chocolates are decadent, delightful, and made on her farm in Wisconsin Dells.

To add this one-time chocolate share, visit your member login page at: https://www.harvie.farm/login
Under "My Farm", you will see "Place Order". This will bring you to the sign up page - from there you will find the chocolate share under "Choose Add-Ons".

Enjoy the beautiful fall color!
