Farm Happenings for September 29, 2022

Posted on September 26th, 2022 by Emily Tzeng

Welcome to Week 18! Just a reminder that flower shares ended two week ago and this session of the CSA ends in two more weeks!

Its been a beautiful September! After such a late start to the season, we are really grateful for these last few weeks of warm, sunny weather to help some of our long season crops to ripen up and giving us a little more time to finish planting for winter. Due to some timing/staffing issues, we got our fall cauliflower and cabbage in late, so I'm glad we are getting some good weather to let them size up.

We also have lots of garlic braids in stock right now! Please email me if you would like to order one.

Veg this week:

LAST WEEK for summer squash! Still a little longer for cucumbers, but the end is near.

LAST WEEK for eggplant!

LAST WEEK for melon?

Coming to the end for tomatoes! Enjoy them now!

Turnips and daikon are back! These are real beauties this season.

Escarole is in! One of my favorite greens, these are lightly bitter and perfect for Italian Wedding Soup. Blanch the escarole prior to adding to the soup or sautéing to remove most of the bitterness.

Napa cabbage is back!
