Farm Happenings for September 22, 2022

Posted on September 20th, 2022 by Emily Tzeng

Welcome to week 17! Just a reminder that our 12 week flower share ended last week! This session of our CSA ends in 3 weeks!

Fall really settled in last week, with cool nights, zucchini plants slowing down, and big sections of the farm switching from veggies to cover crop. This week we are planting out some winter food, like salad mix that will be harvested in December and doing a final weeding of the radicchio patch. We still have lots of warm season veggies, but the beginning of our fall broccolini and cabbages. We are also starting some of our big winter infrastructure projects, like putting up a new, bigger propagation house and a new tunnel for the sheep! Lots of construction projects in our future.

Veggies this week:

Last week for edamame!

Beans! An unexpected bumper crop of pole beans after years of deer eating a lot of beans out in the field. We have been loving pole beans in the tunnel, see image.

Daikon radishes! New crop of purple daikon coming out of the ground, with lovely greens that you can eat! Try this Daikon Leaf Furikake?

Still many tomatoes and peppers available now! These summer favs won't be around forever so enjoy them now! Want bulk amounts for sauce or freezing? Email us!
