Farm Happenings for August 5, 2021

Posted on August 2nd, 2021 by Emily Tzeng

Welcome to week 11 and happy August!

As always, lots going on at the farm this week! We are close to finishing out the outside plantings this season, which is always a great milestone to hit. Almost all of the thousands of fall and winter carrots, beets, rutabaga, and daikon radishes have germinated and ready for weeding. We will be working on moving some tunnels to new sections of the farm in preparation for all of our winter greens soon. The last successions of beans, summer squash, and cucumbers are also in so we can (hopefully) have those items into early fall, provided the first frost comes in October and not September, like last year.

We also made an investment in our packing line recently that has really improved our lives! It has taken a lot of work and consideration to figure out how to pack 75-100 customized shares each week, especially when we grow 50+ items over the year. Our new conveyor line has helped make things easier and more accurate. Plus, shoutout to our newest crew member Noah who has been able to come in fresh at the point of the year when we are getting tired.
