Strawberries Are Here!

Posted on February 17th, 2024 by Conrad Cable

We are taking Monday off work, so that means that you have extra time to choose exactly what goes into your farm share! This week might be the largest farm share week in our farm's history, so THANK YOU for being part of that milestone!

What's Fresh This Week?

  • Yellow Carrots
  • Cauliflower
  • Mesclun Mix
  • Napa Cabbage
  • LOUISIANA STRAWBERRIES
  • Oyster Mushrooms!

Limited Harvest

  • Broccolini
  • Collard Greens
  • Bok Choy
  • Scallions

Farewell, Bok Choy:

To put it simply: we signed up WAY more farm share members than we ever anticipated, and we are sold out of bok choy for the rest of this season. We still have Napa cabbages, which I enjoy just as much. I think we had a great season of bok choy. We harvested bok choy for the last 16 weeks! Next season, we are trialing some new varieties that you will love!

Louisiana Strawberries!

The first fruit of the season is always exciting! As Spring approaches in South Louisiana, we can enjoy some of the fruits of our hard working neighbor's labor. Fresh strawberries will be available weekly until the end this season! I am not sure how many we will need so that everyone who wants strawberries can get strawberries, but I placed an order for 45 containers. If we sell out, I will call on Tuesday about adding more, and send you an email with any updates.

Spring Season Update

Following the drought last fall, we are now in the final weeks of one of our best farm share seasons ever. I owe so much of our successes from this season to all of our farm share members from last spring/summer who believed in and supported us through some really tough times. I'm still in a state of disbelief at how much our farm share membership has grown. Each week, new members are joining our farm family, and so far we have more than doubled our membership since December! Of course I think people are joining because our veggies are awesome, but I attribute a lot of that success to Kaden and I having collaborative and community-focused attitudes.

There's a lot of cauliflower this week because we had our best cauliflower harvest ever! I was worried about planting them too late last October. However, if I had planted too much earlier, the young florets could have been damaged by the freeze a month ago. I hope that you enjoy this Asian variety of cauliflower. It has long, tender stems on each floret. I really think they are delicious! We have a lot of cauliflower planted for the Spring farm share season!

Fresh vegetables, fresh fruit, local growers, our selections this week are perfect examples of the spirit of our farm share experience!
