Farm Happenings at Strawberry Hill Farm
Salad Mix Is Back!
We were finally able to pick salad mix this week, and from our new row of romaine too. The cool nights are helping the greens and other fall crops like kale and beets, but slowing down crops like tomatoes and green beans.
This week we have a new item—onions—on the list, and butternut sq1 read more »
The Fall Garden
Things are changing in the gardens now that the nights are growing chilly. We still have tomatoes, but they are winding down. The green beans and peppers are growing more slowly, and the flowers are fading—except for the dahlias. The beets and kale, on the other hand, are enjoying the cooler1 read more »
Eat Your Sweets! (Potatoes, That Is)
Cool weather is coming, and fall crops are coming into their own. This week we have freshly-dug sweet potatoes, one of the most nutritious vegetables you can eat. The kale (another nutrition powerhouse) is producing well, and salad mix and romaine are growing (finally!), but aren’t yet ready1 read more »
Raspberries Going Strong
Our fall crop of red raspberries is at its peak this week, so we have plenty available on the farm stand. We’ve had adequate rainfall and enough sun to grow an abundant crop this year.

Summer Heat

This week we have those four items, plus red b1 read more »
We Have Tomatoes!
Our tomatoes are finally ripening in earnest, and we have a good selection on the farm stand this week. We have an especially large amount of Brandywine heirloom tomatoes, and they are delicious.
Also this week, raspberries are back! It’s the larger crop of the year, just getting started, so1 read more »
Rain at Last!
Our gardens have been suffering from lack of rain and high temperatures, but we finally got a good soaking today (Tuesday). Drip irrigation keeps things alive, but rain helps crops thrive. (The chickens enjoy the new growth of grass, too!)
We have our first few large tomatoes for sale this week, pl1 read more »
