First Taste of Garlic

Posted on June 7th, 2022 by Ron Meyer

The rains and higher temperatures have brought on more garden produce. This week on the farm stand we offer the first taste of fresh garlic—curly scapes. These flower stalks from the plants are great chopped up in salads, soups, egg dishes, and pretty much anywhere you would use garlic. They are also easy to freeze, to add garlic flavor to winter meals. Just chop them up, seal them in a plastic bag, and put them in the freezer.

In addition, we have tender kale and more quarts of strawberries this week. Again, we have to estimate the number of quarts, but we’ll make sure you get what you order, even if we need to deliver them on Friday. Also, if you want to order strawberries but they’re gone by the time you order, check with us. There’s a good chance we’ll end up getting more quarts than we estimated.

Other items on the farm stand this week are farm-fresh eggs, arugula, radishes, salad mix, mint tea mix, dill, cilantro, local honey, our own grass-fed beef, and plenty of our new season strawberry jam.
