Farming as a Family!

Posted on November 5th, 2019 by Noah Sanders

When I first felt led to farm over a decade ago, one of my motivations was to be able to work with and invest in my family. Over the years this has been one of the biggest blessings of doing what we do. In fact, I don't even think we fully appreciate how much time we enjoy together. Having your own business and especially farming definitely does present challenges. Sometimes it is hard to keep the farm from ruling every other area of our life, but we are learning to keep it within boundaries better now. While I used to stay up super late working all hours we have pretty much managed to start fitting most of our work between 7:00 and 5:00. Our changing family seasons have also dictated how we integrate our family into the work we do. At first my wife and I did most everything together. But as our wonderful kids came along she became more valuable managing their training and education and our home and homestead (more than a full time job!). In the mornings she does chores and school with the kids and often they come out to help me after lunch. We also enjoy eating almost every meal together and reading together in the evenings. I love that my kids can feel like they are part of a family team where we are serving people with good food in our community. We couldn't do this without you so thank you so much for all your support. It is a pleasure to get to serve you and be your farmers!
