Giving Thanks

Posted on November 18th, 2022 by Danielle *Allen

First snow and a big sigh of relief, as our tenth growing season at Root 5 Farm comes to a close. The end of the season race to get everything tucked in or put away on the farm before the snow flies is always a big task. There's something so calming about dormancy settling in all around us. We feel grateful for the beauty and the bounty that surrounds us.

The harvest season has been bountiful and we have an abundance of delicious local foods ready for your Thanksgiving table. We have all the fixings for a traditional feast including sweet potatoes, turnips, russet potatoes, carrots, and butternut squash. We're also excited to offer Vermont grown cranberries and two of our favorite apples of the season, Macoun and Cox Orange Pippen.

Even if you're not planning a big feast for the holiday, this is a great time to stock up on your favorite storage vegetables before supplies run out. Scroll down to check out all your options for onions, garlic, cabbage, winter squash, turnips, sweet potatoes, cauliflower, spinach, lettuce, parsley, krauts and more.

Thank you for choosing local food and supporting organic farmers! Your choice makes a difference for the land, the soil, and our local economy.

We hope your Root 5 Farm CSA share offers inspiration for many nutritious and delicious meals this holiday season.
