Farm Happenings for November 11, 2019

Posted on November 9th, 2019 by Tim Vrieselaar

There's a blizzard of sorts coming in this weekend.  It's going to be good and cold for the weekend....but not cold enough for our fruit share plans!!

We had hoped to deliver frozen raspberries from BC during the winter share.  These are great big raspberries that are absolutely delicious.  But they are frozen and need to stay frozen until you get them into your house.  If the cold temperatures would last for a few days we would trust to leave the raspberries out in the cold and know that they would stay frozen.  We will see how the forcast works out - but if it's cold enough - that will be the plan for fruit before the season ends.

We have reached clean up stage - the gardens are totally done - nothing left to harvest anymore.  We would have liked to get all the carrots out but it was simply to wet from the last snow storms and the carrots were showing frost damage already - so we called it a wrap and hope for more next summer.

Winter feels pretty real right now - with snow and short days - summer is only a distant dream.
