Farm Happenings for September 27, 2021

Posted on September 20th, 2021 by Tim Vrieselaar

We are moved and living in our new home!  It's super exciting...but it kinda feels like camping also.

We had very busy weekend getting "almost" everything moved across and lots of it unpacked as well.  The picture is a nutshell view of how we all felt by Saturday night.  Poor Abigail has been pulled from the old to the new house so many times...and then when we took down her crib and moved it....and she was so tired....Aaron used his magic powers (aka His phone with lots of puppy videos) to put her to sleep in his arms.  He won't admit how much he loves cuddling with his little sister! Thankfully the kids have all settled in well and are enjoying their new bedrooms!

We also had a good frost that put out the last of the tender crops.  Fall is definitely here with a true chill in the air in the mornings.  It is beautiful to wake up and watch the sun rise over the lake...we are loving our new home in more ways then one!  It is such a peaceful place...away from all the busyness that has been our life for so many years.

Our CSA season (and career) are almost over. Only 2 more weeks after this one and it will all be history.  It has been 10 years of lots of food produced on our farm.  We will be sorry to be ending it.  But there is a time for everything...and we feel that the time has come to continue with other things.

I am actually curious to total up the pounds of food that we have been privileged to grow on our farm...but I don't think there is any way to actually get a true value.  But there have been hundreds of families that have been able to enjoy our produce over the last 10 years and we are thankful for the opportunity to feed you and your loved ones healthy food.  The gardens are full of memories of our kids growing up....for example...just a few days ago a picture popped up on my facebook memories that gave us a chuckle.  It was Tim and I harvesting beets with my very pregnant belly!!...yup..that was baby Abigail in the picture before she arrived.  Our years of CSA farmers will stay with us as memories...and we look forward to many more memory moments with our family in the future!

Thanks again for all your support!! Without you ....we would never have been able to do what we did for 10 years!
