Farm Happenings for August 13, 2020

Posted on August 11th, 2020 by Emily Tzeng

Its probably peak summer in the PNW this week! We hope everyone is enjoying all of the summer foods available at this time of year. During this busy time of year, we eat a lot of tomato sandwiches at our house. Most of the time we use excellent bread from our Bread Share with a generous layer of mayo and slices of our rainbow heirloom tomatoes and a big pinch of sea salt. It is also a good time to be eating a lot of BLT's or mozzarella/tomato/basil sandwiches! As always, we love seeing what you make with our veggies! Please tag us in any of your social media posts for us to see.

Despite all of the summer foods, we are focusing this week on cultivating all of our fall and winter crops and cleaning out spaces for our storage crops. We also are getting ready to make our biggest compost pile of the year (100+ yards of material) that will fertilize all of our crops for next year! Farmers always have a foot in each season and it really feels that way during this time of year.

Just a reminder: Please check your bags before you leave your pick up location! If you have ordered tomatoes, they will be in a separate tray.

If you are interested in bulk quantities of tomatoes, cucumbers, tomatillos, hot peppers, onions, etc., please let me know! Now is the time to put up some summer foods for the winter months ahead.
