Pre- box opportunity for 3-21-202 market

Posted on March 14th, 2020 by Lorien Carsey

Hello everyone,

It's Blue Moon Farm here with, yes, another update regarding the virus. As
of this writing, the City Champaign has been declared a local emergency by
way of an executive order. We don't know if the market on 3-21-20 will be
cancelled. We know that we have a lot of freshly grown produce, and we know
that many of you want and need it. We are trying to develop the most
sensible, safe way to make this good food available.

We are going to offer an option of pre-order, pre-pay, pre-box for the
3-21-2020 market date. This allows customers to simply arrive, be handed
their box contents, and go. If the market is going on, we will do this
inside the mall. If the market is cancelled the pick up will take place in
the parking lot. All of these details will be decided soon.

For more details about how to order, please read below. We have changed our
ordering software to Harvie farm, and it is much easier to use than C-U
Farmers.

If the market doesn't get cancelled, we will have both a regular market set
up, and box pick-up for those who pre-ordered. For those who don't
pre-order and come to the market as usual the following precautions will be
called for:

NO customers will be allowed to touch produce at our stand.
We will have one person taking money and other people bagging and handling
produce for each customer. This will slow us down a bit. If you are in a
rush, PRE-ORDER.
We will be using hand sanitizer and/or gloves between each customer.
We urge you to practice social distancing of 10 feet between yourself and
others.

If or when market gets cancelled, we are investigating ways to ensure
produce can be distributed to our customers. We are considering all
options, such as a drive-by box pickup. We will be using our online Harvie
platform for any pre-order distribution system.

As you know, everything is changing at such a rapid pace that it is hard to
set anything in stone at this point. Our priority is to ensure our
community has access to fresh produce which can help boost your immune
system and keep you healthy.

What are we doing at the farm to keep everyone safe?

We want you to have confidence that your food is being taken care of at the
farm. We are doing our standard cleanliness protocol for food safety such
as washing hands at designated transition times, keeping people who are
sick at home, and sanitizing surfaces. In addition to handwashing, we are
requiring our staff to use gloves to process produce and change the gloves
frequently and when necessary.

Online Ordering Details!

What does this mean? This is a new system we are creating in response to
what is happening. We are creating a bi-weekly optional box that is fully
customizable. The dates of the box pick up will be: March 21st, April 4th,
and April 18th. Ordering will open the Monday prior to the pickup, and
close on the Wednesday prior to the pickup to give us time to harvest and
wash your orders. We will be in a different public scenario by May and will
make plans accordingly. If you want to be able to order for March 21st for
box pickup, sign up NOW so you can order starting Monday.

With this system, you choose the size of your box, and decide its contents.
Because we are using our Harvie software, you will have the ability to
either get a pre-made box of veggies that the system chooses for you, based
on your preferences, or you can change the contents of the box to your
liking. Don't get confused, you are not signing up for a full season CSA.
You are ordering one box at a time. This is similar to an online store.

We are working with Harvie to get our online sales system up and going by
Monday at the latest. Below are step by step instructions. If you want to
skip this and jump straight to ordering:

You must sign up for the Harvie Farm Stand to be able to order for pre-boxing.

Please email us at bluemoonfarmurbana@gmail.com or through Harvie if you have any questions.

Stay healthy,
