Farm Happenings for June 24, 2020: Hints of Summer

Posted on June 19th, 2020 by Lorien Carsey

We are starting to harvest our favorite pole bean, Musica, this week. It's a tender Romano type, and as you can see we are going to need ladders. We also have some greenhouse tomatoes. We titled those "Farmer's Choice", which means for the time being we are going to choose which varieties go in your box. We are starting to harvest cucumbers as well, but for all of the above we have only a limited amount right now. You can expect more of those later in the season. This was a big week at the farm. We got our final planting of tomatoes/peppers/eggplant in, we got our first planting of tomatoes tied and mulched, we got the cover crop on our carrot fields tilled in, and did a fair amount of weeding. We want to thank everyone who has been buying donation boxes! Rey Dalitto delivered arugula, cilantro, braising mix, salad mix, head lettuce, turnips, kohlrabi, broccoli and kale to the Northeast Community Fund in Decatur. Stay cool everyone and eat greens!
