Willow Haven Cottage Farm Stay

**SALE** Yogurt now $3.75 in Extras

Elizabeth, one of our members, came to the farm to pick up her vegetables this summer after making special arrangements. Because of the timing I had her follow me over the hill to our new pack barn where we've been packing your CSA boxes and storing the vegetables in the new, huge, walk - in cooler. Elizabeth got a sneak peak at the inner workings of our farm.

The barn is on a beautiful neighboring property that Reuben was able to rent and then purchase this year.

One of the bonuses, besides adding vegetable and hay fields, is a quaint little brick farmhouse that we've named Willow Haven Cottage. Elizabeth may have noticed the gardens studded with Willow Haven Flowers and the wide four season porch at the front of the house.

Willow Haven Cottage is now available on airbnb for farm stay get aways. You'll get to experience our quiet, rural valley in New Tripoli and may even get a glimpse of the farm truck rolling in loaded with vegetables.  Farmer Reuben is offering a 20% discount on for our first few guests. Check it out and reserve your stay on the farm now.

Now for the Vegetable News...

Once and done.

That's how many of the fall vegetables are harvested.

Unlike peppers, tomatoes, and beans which keep flowering, "setting fruit", ripening and being picked day by day, the cool crops and root vegetables grow to maturity and then are harvested all at one time.

Well, sort of. If you call going out to dig sweet potatoes every day, row by row, week after week until we get them all a "one time" harvest. But when it's done... it's done.

The cooler weather prevents any more peppers from ripening so most of the rest of them are going to be green.

Rows of green beans that have flowered but they are growing so slowly that they may not be ready to harvest before a "killing frost" takes them out.

I hope you are making hearty meals with your sweet potatoes, squash and potatoes with a vibrant and light side of fresh salad. ENJOY!

We'll keep farming for you!
