Garlic!

Posted on October 10th, 2020 by Lilly Emendy

We have prepped bed space for 1,500 cloves of garlic to be planted for next year's summer harvest. We're learning so much year to year about what our soil, farm system, and community can sustain and both year's our garlic harvest has been spectacular- so we're making it even bigger for next year! Growing our capacity by another 50% for the 2021 season. Pictured are 2 UNCG student volunteers who are in a communications class which requires they spend 20 hours during the semester directly engaged with a community projects. These two spent Friday morning pruning our strawberry plants and planting hardneck 'Music' garlic. We had such a great time- the weather was perfect!

We're also offering some of the same high quality seed garlic as a part of your share if you go in and customize. 10 for $5 or 25 for $10. If you've never grown garlic before, please do it! YouTube How To Plant Garlic It's an amazingly simple crop to grow and like so many root crops is like pulling up a little magic when it's harvest time and you discover what's been growing out of sight for the last 8 months.

Thanks everyone!
