If you're receiving corn this week...you're in for 2 surprises!
1- This is an old time variety called silver queen. It's not as sweet as some of the newer times, but has more of the savory lots of butter and salt type of corn!
2-As organic growers there's very little that we can do to control the dreaded corn ear worm! Don't be alarmed by the little fellow you might find in your corn- simply remove and cut off the damaged tip. It's no surprise that you'll likely ever find certified organic sweet corn in the grocery store. Many of today's sweet corn varieties are genetically modified to produce a bacteria that kills the worm. Pretty cool trick, but obviously not allowed in Certified Organic Production!
