A Difficult Week

Posted on July 14th, 2023 by Farm Manager

Many of you have been asking how the farm fared after the storm, thank you for keeping us in your minds and for reaching out. We're so fortunate to be on high ground with sandy soils, we did not experience any flooding in this recent storm event. Our crew is all safe, our fields are drying out, and so our farm operations continue.

We have an abundant harvest for your shares this week. We're excited about bunched carrots, gorgeous scallions, and ripe tomatoes coming in from the fields, as well as a few new offerings like oats and farro from Maine Grains. These are both simple, nourishing and versatile grains, bringing warmth and sweetness in dishes like these cardamom-spice oat cookies and maple farro pudding. Or try out a delicious farro grain bowl loaded with veggies from your box.

Meanwhile, our hearts are heavy knowing that many of our farm friends have been severely impacted by the recent flooding, it's devastating. So much hard work is lost. With a continuing wet forecast ahead of us, we're still bracing for the impact this will continue to have on our region. We're working to compile resources to share ways we can all help support those who feed us in these times it matters most, so please stay tuned!
