Salad Season

Posted on May 13th, 2022 by Danielle *Allen

We hope you enjoyed your first box of vegetables! It was a real pleasure to get back into the swing of harvesting and packing shares. Let us know how it's going. Have you tried a new recipe or tasted something new? We'd love to hear about it!

The sun and heat were intense this past week, a little stressful for plants and people. It was such a sudden shift from wearing winter layers and protecting plants from frost, to sunscreen and shorts and watering plants twice a day so they don't wither in the sun. But the crew is learning quickly and getting into the rhythm of planting, seeding, and harvesting. Garhett, our 5 year old, is also really enjoying harvest time now.

It's that time of year when leafy greens are so fresh and abundant. We make a big green salad with dinner almost every night during the spring. This helps us feel so healthy after a long winter eating comfort foods. Have you tried chopping your fresh herbs into your green salads? This brings a bright new flavor to salads, and it's a great way to use up herb bunches (stems and all!) before your next box is delivered. Enjoy!
