Let Food Be Thy Medicine

Posted on October 6th, 2021 by Danielle *Allen

When folks visit the farm this time of year they're shocked by how beautiful our greens look. Many home gardens are on the denouement of their productivity arc and they're settling into decay. At the farm, it's our job to keep your boxes bountiful through the end of December so we've planted successions of many greens and herbs so they're available during their prime seasons. Greens thrive in the cooler weather of early Spring and late Fall, so now is the perfect time to get creative with salads again! Biologically speaking, it's no coincidence that this is the case. Our bodies need boosts of the vitamins and minerals greens offer after coming out of a long winter and right before going into another. Before the onset of global industrial agriculture fresh greens wouldn't have been available during the wintertime. Hippocrates said, "Let food be thy medicine." Our greens are abundant and absolutely primo at the moment and here for your body's nourishment.
