Roots, Shoots and Muddy Boots

Posted on October 8th, 2019 by Robyn Calvey

It's fall y'all!   I know that it seems to have come out of nowhere but we knew it was going to happen eventually.  We are busy harvesting LOTS of roots like beets, carrots, turnips, parsnips, radishes, turnips along with some delicious shoots like broccoli, celery, leeks, kale, chard and lettuce.

The fields are MUDDY and if you step off of a walking path you risk your life to the sinking mud.  But we have managed this week to still harvest the best of the best.  And we will continue to do so rain, snow and shine until the last week of share delivery on OCTOBER 31st (Nov 1 for Elkhart, Nov 2 for Poco).

Over the next few weeks the shares will be getting heavy with the flavors of fall.  We buy in some items from other farms (potatoes and winter squash) for the fall and are excited to say that they are all certified organic this season!  The name of the item will indicate which farm they came from if it isn't something that we grow ourselves.

Do you have a favorite fall recipe you would like to share?  Be sure to check out the Harvie Facebook group which includes all Harvie Farm members from across the earth (over 3,800 of them!).

Don't for get to log into your Member Profile (new look!) to view your Auto Renewal Setting to make sure you are set to renew on November 1st.  Check out our Auto Renewal farm happening for more information.

Thank you for your support and happy pumpkin picking and cider sipping!
