Gone are the days of summer I guess. That was fast. We are in the 13th week of the 20 week season and honestly I had no idea back in April if we would ever get to this point. What a season it has been. So many changes not only here at the farm but everywhere on this gigantic planet. Our lives have been turned upside down. But we are here, your food is here and we will make it through the rest of the season rain, shine or pandemic. We got this.
A couple weekends ago, our Pack Shed Manager Becky and I headed out to a secret remote location in the Kettle Moraine Forest to farm plan for 2021. Yup...we went camping for work! With our computers on a hot spot and lots of spreadsheets before us, we came up with a plan for the season to come. But let me back up and tell you that my plan for 2021 was brewing long before August. It started back in May when I could see that the season was going to be a big one. Our biggest ever in fact. The most members, most production, most labor, most work ever. Sounds like we should be excited right!? Not so much.
It's time for us to grow smarter not bigger here at Park Ridge Organics. Don't get me wrong, we LOVE feeding lots and lots of people. But there is a balance that needs to be accomplished and it's time for us to scale back a bit. To catch our breath again...to find our happy place.
So with that I am here to announce that we are only going to be offering 300 share spots for the 2021 season...115 less spots than the 2020 season. If you are a current member, I have great news! You can ensure your spot for 2021 by making sure that you are set to Auto-Renew your share. We will run the renewal at the end of October. So for now, just make sure you are set to YES for renewal if that is what you want.
Log into your Harvie Account > My Profile > Auto-Renew Settings to confirm that you are set to YES Auto-Renew. OR if you DO NOT want to auto-renew, TURN OFF auto renewal.
A few notes about the 2021 season:
- Standard Season length will be 18 weeks
- Standard Season Cost per week will be:
- Small Share = $23 (total for season $414)
- Medium Share = $34 (total for season $612)
- Large Share = $45 (total for season $810)
- Add-ons offered will be:
- Mushroom Share = $6.50 per week
- Pasta Share = $7.50 per week
- Bread Share = $8.00 per week
- Spring Share = $120 for 4 weeks (non-customizable, limited number available with pick up only at the farm)
- Thanksgiving Share = $50 for one time delivery(non-customizable, limited number available with pick up only at the farm)

We also recently got word that we received a Value Added Producer Grant from the USDA for an expansion project of The Farm Store at Park Ridge Organics. This is HUGE news! The farm store is where it all began and we finally are going to be giving it the spot light it deserves. Over the next couple seasons, we will be working to get the word out about the store as well as setting up a more user friendly online purchasing experience for our farm store customers.
