Farm Happenings for August 23, 2021

Posted on August 17th, 2021 by Tim Vrieselaar

It's Raining! And what a beautiful sound it is!  What a blessing!  We have had so much heat and very dry conditions and we are just sitting here watching the rain fall and counting our blessings!

Thanks to all of you for your encouraging words in the last week (and many times throughout the past 10 years)  We truly value your support!

The rain will switch up the harvest for a little bit.  We will try to stay out of the mud for a few days and get our harvest done as quickly as possible.  Things will slow down in the cool weather...which is ok for us.  Hopefully we don't get frost for a few weeks yet.  We have lots of squash coming along very nicely and we look forward to harvesting that.  The first pumpkins are orange already..and there are also lots of mashed potato squash coming up.  They need a few weeks to cure yet...but it's looking like a very nice harvest.

It's super busy on the farm right now...between the usual harvest, packaging and delivering of your veggies....I am also trying to get lots of canning and freezing done for the winter.  And then along with all the usual work in the home we are trying to start packing.  I have no idea yet how to pack up house for 12 people...but it will be a fun challenge for our family.  We are all very excited to be moving...hopefully that level of excitement can be directed into packing ;)

Wishing you all a wonderful wet week!!
