It's time to tell you all some hard news.
We have decided to quit the CSA Program at the end of this season.
It has been a decision we have not taken lightly...but we have given it 10 years of blood, sweat and tears and feel that it is time to move on.
We can not thank you as our members enough for all your commitment to us over the years....they have not been easy years. Growing vegetables in Southern Alberta is never an easy undertaking...and we have seen both the good years and the hard years. Without your constant support and encouragement we likely would have quit years ago...but we loved being able to grow for you and we loved the appreciation that you showed when you received the weekly baskets. We have truly enjoyed the past 10 years...and we will miss seeing you each week and sharing stories and friendship!
But at this stage in our lives we feel that we are being called away from this venture and to new things. We do not know for certain what the future will hold...but we do trust that God cares for us and He knows the plans that He has for us.
We are moving off the farm the first week of September. We are super excited to have finally found a large home to house our large family!! We are not moving far away...only about 12 minutes away from where we are now. Everyone is very excited to move...and hopefully that excitement will carry us through the massive job of packing up house for 12 of us and nearly 20 years of memories!! I know it is going to be a big job....but we are used to working hard and I know we will get it accomplished.
It is very bittersweet to be doing the harvests right now....knowing that it is the last time we will grow these crops for you....and yet doing our best to bring you the best. It is a pleasure to see the baskets go out each week...especially now when they are so full of the bounty of the season!
The first corn is ready, the watermelon (from Mans Organics) are ready, the first celery is ready. broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, onions...there is so much happening at once on the farm right now!
We are sorry to be deserting you in your food choices...and we hope that you will continue to support local growers as much as you can. All your local growers need your support....please do not forget them!
